Taking this opportunity, i wanna thank my sec sch buddy - Jia Chuen for his kind housewarming gifts. A great contribution of taka vouchers for me! huge amt! realli appreciated it! I can buy item number 4 with that amt of money. Also, a big thank you to my mum's friend, who has supported us in a big way. Thanks for the big ang bao, i can buy another sofa, but i'm going to buy other more useful stuff with this money. Thanks!
Here are some of the pictures to share with you. I love the lightings in the house... simply love it! Well, i guess money well-spent on this area :) We bought a small crystal light for our passage way leading to the bedrooms... cute and nice :) As i do not own a very good camera, most pictures taken looks yellowish... but some are clear :)
Below are the views from the main door and from the living.. see we can start walking bare footed :) the house is so clean :) As the door opens... before and after cleaning..

This are views from the display and shelter bomb area, dining and cosy area... when lighted up.. my cosy area do looks cosy i hope :)
These are views of my kitchens and common toilets :) We have changed the toilet door, the WC, basin and even the windows pane... these are things that cost us money :) There are still some fixtures that's not up yet.
Here are the Master bedroom views and the master toilet views. The 1st pic is the side of the walk-in-wardrobe facing my bed... the tv will be mounted there.. the bottom with the dark glass panel is where we can place our players. The 2nd pic is my bedframe.. the bedhead will have lights to create a romantic effect :)
We've changed the toilet door as well, and the entired vanity cabinet provided by HDB has been removed. Our new vanity cabinet looks like a first-aid kit, but its of different placement compared to many vanity cabinets. Our mirror, basin and glass top is not up yet. Our favourite item in the toilet is the Shower head! Look at the squarish rain shower, wow its gonna feel good bathing underneath it :)
Some updates about my personal life... as its GSS, me and my dear friend went for shopping right after Pirates of the Carribean! Wow look at how much stuff we bought.. well.. the winner is Nicole!!! Haha we realli had fun tat nite just by 2hrs of rushed shopping. My sec sch buddy, joined us for coffee later and helped us take pictures... there's supposed to be a shot of him holding all the shopping bags, but we missed it. Had too much fun talking away... next time perhaps :)

Busy Weekend

In another few hours, I will be working in a new place. I really hope that i can adapt to the new environment fast enough and enjoy working there. Its quite scary to change a working environment after working at the same place for some time. Especially so, when you already have friends and lotsa fun in the previous co. Well guys, wish me luck :) Though i should be sleeping by now so that i look awake tmr, i just feel like updating the blog.
I had a busy weekend! Wow it's incredible! On Saturday morning, Alvin and I attended one of my best friend's Solemnization Ceremony! Dawn, Jing and I were early to accompany her for her dressing up. We are all very excited for her, she is our 1st uni friend to tie the knot! Very happy for our "MG". Now, she has become Mrs Yong! Haha, look at our pretty Mrs Yong, she is smiling radiantly. MG, we sincerely wish you a Blissful Marriage! I'm sure you will be a good wife... Dickson, you're a lucky man!

Wendy dressing up.
Wendy and Dickson listening carefully, paying close attention to their solemnization ceremony.
Now they are pronounced as Man and Wife!!!!!!!
After attending her big event, I went for my second fitting with Alvin and Nicole! My WG (wedding gown) is close to completion! My EG (evening gown) turns out better... but i still think that there is room for improvement... The cutting of the EG makes me look very straight... haha my figure is straight enough... tink got to check with my designer again to see how we can improve it. My CS (cheong sum) is still my favourite! Really love it, and it gives me some "curves" haha. After adding the beads, I think it makes the CS even BETTER. The colour is just fantastic! Took some pictures, but don't think I will share with you guys yet... wait till the final fitting and the trial make-up. Then I will show you something :)
More updates on the house... My cooker hood and top cabinets are installed. After all, the wall tiles colour and the kitchen cabinet colour turns out pretty well, quite matching, so i'm now less worried and happier.

We have shrunk our bedroom to create space for our huge wardrobe! Okie, it's a mini walk-in wardrobe (with cupboard doors)... Its too dusty without doors... so for easier maintenance, lets just have doors! With the walk-in, it also give us some sort of a passage way for us to walk into the room. Perhaps we can hang our wedding photo by the side of the wall? We shall see how it goes.

This is the view from my bed frame. The wires sticking out of the wardrobe is for our 27" LCD TV. The open space at the lower bottom is for us to place our players in. the gap on the right is the entrance to the master toilet and the wardrobes.
Our uncompleted bed frame. There will be cushion on the bedhead so to create a softer look. Should ite remain as Brown or should we change the colour to make it the same as the walk-in wardrobe??? Headache!

50% to completion

Finally more pictures to share with you for my new house... something new :) My carpentry work has started today. Targeting to be completed by mid of next week or even earlier. Okie, lets see the skeleton of what has been done so far. Well, its about 50% to completion of my reno... tiling done, carpentry on its way... followed by paint works, installation of toiletries, aircon, lights, chemical washing.. we still got to confirmed all the curtains stuff this sunday... I wonder how long it takes to complete the curtains...
I am also considering if we should get our designer to do the shoe rack for us... or shall we get off the rack??? headache... If he is doing the shoe rack for us, we will be delaying the handover... well, i'm not in the hurry to shift in yet... coz i'm not in the hurry to CLEAN UP the house... argh...
This is the work done for my kitchen. My mum is standing there looking out for any flaws. She is complaining about how we made the kitchen looks much smaller, when it supposed to look more spacious after hacking down the wall. It would have looked bigger if we do the conventional type of kitchen. It looks smaller also i have extended the length of my island so that we have a bigger working top!
If only HDB has allowed us to hack down the entire wall, we will have a REAL island kitchen... there will be no blockage at that corner. It's really a pity...
The top cabinet has not been installed yet...so only the island and the bottom cabinet is installed.
A closer look of the bottom cabinet.
Now, this is one place i really hope that it can be done up nicely! Our cosy corner...a raised platform. But we are kinda lack of resources, $$$, to buy the necessary for the cosy corner. Well, give us more time and i'm sure we can really make it a cosy place. The plank in the centre is for a purpose, we going to have a tinted glass mirror there for the dining area.
This is the view opposite the platform, this is our bomb shelter. Now its covered!
This is going to be our TV console, one place that we will be spending a lot of time in.
It's tough to take pictures of the wardrobe...so here are some of the pics of how the interior looks like. Guys, I bet you're going to comment that we really made our Master bedroom a really small one, when it's already small enough! But see it in another view, it looks more cosy??? haha okie, i know initially I mentioned that we really love to make more space and try to "enlarge" our rooms. In fact, we did, we managed to enlarge the space of our wardrobe without making use of another room! Our wardrobe took up the space of half our bedroom. Yes, do we have so much clothes??? I don't know, most probably... that happens when 2 vain ppl are going to stay together.

Me - A Housewife???

My parents are away and just came back this evening. I have become a full-time housewife today! I did all the household chores like vacumming the floor, tidying up the house, took a walk with winnie (okie she is my dog, my family member of high importance)... etc... shop for my dinner and did the cooking! I have not cooked for ages since i came back from the down and under.

Cooked a total of 4 dishes -
1) Healthy soup (i call it Vitamin ABC soup where the ingredients consist of tomatoes, corn, potatoes, onions, carrots and pork ribs. Simple, easy to cook and nice to drink)

2) Deep fry pork strips... too bad i don't have enough time to cook the sauce, if not it will taste even better.

3) Steam eggs with dried scallops

4) Stir fry "Xiao Bai Cai"

I have a lucky man who get to taste all these dishes! Well, i call him lucky, coz so far since i came back from aussie, i have never cooked a full spread dinner for someone. So he is indeed lucky!

These are just something simple that me and room-mates loved and used to cook in Australia. I realli missed the times when the 6 of us cook for our daily spread. So Ladies, when my house is up, shall we cook again?

Reno and Wedding Updates

Some quick updates about the house and my wedding preps. Good work to the tilers and my Interior designer. All the tiling work is close to completion. Just attached 2 pics this time to show you that all my bedrooms tiles are completed with skirting! Left some tiling work for the kitchen tiles... need to touch up some parts as we decided to change the toilet doors last minute! With this decision, we have spoiled a few tiles, so its not their fault.

We will start installing the cabinets this Thursday, so by next Tues or Wed, all the cabinets will be up. The other good news is that we have purchased our Hoods and Hobs! Well, the hob is 1/5 the price of my hood! Having a kitchen island really cost us a huge bomb... the hood itself is $1500! My god, with this amt i can get 2 normal hood for the conventional type of kitchen.

As for my wedding preps, everything is planned out but i'm just waiting for the time to come and execute it! Spoke to the florist, he sounds really sincere and nice. Will only be seeing him one week before the photoshoot so that we will know what are the seasonal flowers available. I love the way he design the bouquet, so nice! Share with you this pic, I think this is one of his signature piece and its my favourite too. I always wanted to use white roses for my wedding, i think roses are just beautiful. You may find them too common, but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. I must introduce you the florist, FLUV, and the designer is Justin :)

Busy Busy...

Oh good news, my Future Mother-In-Law gotten her evening gown too and is from the same place where my mum bought the gown. It cost us $800, a gift from both me and my bf... we have not gotten her anything since we started dating.

Now, I have a list of things that I should do but not done! Currently taking a break from work and will start again in a week's time. I'm so lack of time! I want a longer break actualli.. reno, wedding are taking up a lot of my time... though i enjoy the process, I just want more rest.

Better pull up my socks and get moving faster.
1) Men's Suits for my all the men in the house (my dad and bro, his dad and bro). I have gotten the contacts of 3 shops... duno which one to go to... confused!

2) Flowers, I need to go speak to the florist for my photoshoot and actual day flowers. Think i shd get it done this week, so that I dun need to worry when i start working...

3) Hair - my hair is one of the most impt thing... I can't leave it undone for more than 6mths. Its time!!!! I need to do something to it so that my hair will look good during the shoot. Shd i straighten it or just dye?? Okie, i know my hair is dry, but i just need to do something to it :)

Exciting Wedding Preps Updates

I had my first gown fitting on 5th May, Saturday. I really love my Cheong Sum (knee length). I think I can carry the colour and lace pretty well. As for the wedding gown, i've gotten something i wanted, BIG FAT CAN CAN Dress! hehe i loved it "pong pong" like my designer called it. But i am quite worried for my Evening gown, not sure if its the colour, design or the materials i've chosen that i'm not very comfortable with.

I love the Evening gown design, i guess its the materials i've chosen tat doesn't bring out the design. The colour is okie, unique in a way as not many will chose Green for their gowns. Yes, its green... though i might look better in peachy pink, i think its a good try to go for something different. I have a friend who is also using the same green i've picked! I think she will definitely look gorgeous in it. Hearing from her, i can feel that she is confident wearing that colour. I must learn to be like her, must be confident so to bring out the good of the design and colour. I enjoy speaking to this bride-to-be, she is actuallya friend's friend. Knew her at a wedding dinner, and its a coincidence that we are using the same bridal shop. She is a very nice lady and give good advises.

Alvin had his fair share of fun by choosing his suits design. Initially he wanted something more fanciful and wanted it in White (hehe so to be my prince), but in the end he chose jet black. What changes his mind was the black satin on the suit. Once he saw it, he fell in love with it :) Guys are VAIN TOO! In fact, very vain. But I'm happy that he is finally more interested in all the gowns/suits/wedding preps.

Accompanied my mum for shopping today. She spent over $1000 for an evening gown and a tea dress to wear it for my wedding! Haha tea dress is meant for the day ceremony when we are offering her tea. Don't be surprised if my mum's evening gown looks better than mine! Hers are with nice sequins and glitters. Maybe she will be the prettiest Mum! Okie, its time to spend some time for my Dad and in-laws. Need to bring my dad to make his suit. And spend some time to bring my Mother-in-law to buy an evening gown too :)

My Lovely Tiles...

Finally made up my mind... will not change the new kitchen wall tiles to another colour.. will just go with the current ones... beginning to get used to them now... i hope the end product will be satisfactory.

Today is so exciting! more work completed for the house.. the entire living area has been covered with tiles! So left 3 more bedrooms to go. Can't wait to post the pictures!
Just wanted to show you how it looks like during renovation. I would say the tilers did a good job, its not that messy though.

This is the colour of my living cum bedroom floor tiles. Greyish looking ya? Well... i always thought it will look too dark, but i kinda regret not chosing a DARKER colour now.. begin to fall in love with dark, matte tiles. Maybe you won't like it, but thank god, i do! It was more of Alvin's favourite than mine... but it has become my favourite too! (and i wish its darker... maybe after the chemical wash... will it be darker???)

The tilers at work... Can you see that grey???

okie.. kitchen tiles.. pls turn out well...

This is OUR FAVOURITE! But i think not many will like it... This is our master toilet tiles! I love that BLACK! All sides of the wall will be in black, including my floor tiles, and besides one side of the wall which is in grey. I really love the black!!! Our parents are very much UNHAPPY with it though... haha but well, what do to, we just have to do something we like :)

Money Spending Day

Just some quick updates of our shopping for the house. So far so good... we have bought most of the items, besides the cooker hood and cooking stove. Sofa and dining table have been purchased and will be delivered in mid-june.

I feel that the best bargains are for my electrical appliances! Bought 4 items at the Harvey Norman Yearly Sale! Fantastic offers.. wanted to wait for the Great Singapore Sale but I think the offers are too hard to resist! Managed to get the models we wanted at a much discounted price. We bought 2 LCD TVs (one for the hall and the other for our bedroom), one washer and a small fridge (just enough for 2 of us to store all our junk food - ice cream, soft drinks, beer, chips, chocolates etc...).

As for the basins, WCs and shower heads, everything has been settled too. I've managed to convince my dear husband-to-be to buy the RAIN SHOWER for our master toilet! The heater for the rain shower and shower head have to be bought separately... and it cost us at least $500+ additional just to have the rain shower... if we buy a normal instant heater it will only cost less than $200. (must be wondering why i call him husband-to-be, coz we are not officially married untill 20 Sep 07, so i shall still call him BF or hushand-to-be... he is going to laugh at this message... haha).

For the lights, we do not need to purchase many, just follow the drawings to buy downlights... we also managed to find something interesting to match our dining table and a small crystal light to be placed at the passage way to our bedrooms...

As for the reno works, nothing much to update... except for the following 2 items:

The living area windows casement are up! No longer afraid of the rain... :)

Those areas that are circled in red are the base created for my cabinets and kitchen island. The one on the left is for my top and bottom cabinets. The one in the centre is for my kitchen island.

Some progression of our renovation process

Let's have a review of what has been done for the past 2 weeks. Hacking work has begun from Day 1. Electrical and Aircon works have also commenced. The other most important part has also started - tiling works! Due to busy working schedule and Alvin has been overseas, I only managed to visit our house over the weekend. But its quite amazing when you step into the house after 5 working days. Many things have changed, so drastically that you can hardly recognise that this is the same place you were in 5 days ago.

This is the new look of our living balcony. Don't you feel that it looks more spacious after removing the sliding doors?

Now, this is what we meant by SPACIOUS after tearing down the Study room wall.

Another view, this is the view from the studyroom looking to the living hall and main door. Now the weird, odd shape of the study room is no longer there :)

Okie, this is the start of how they hack down the service balcony wall. Eventually, all has been wiped out and the floor has been leveled.

Tiling works has begun for the Kitchen. New floor and wall tiles have been layed over the exisiting ones.

New wall tiles for our toilets too. Okie, coming to toilet tiling, many people will have lots of comments on the colours. WHY??? Because we are going to use very DARK COLOURED TILES! And many people cannot accept this, well, to each his own. We really loved ourselves to be bold enough to use such colours. Okie, this side of wall that you see is the BRIGHTEST Colour amongst the rest of my toilet tiles :)
